IMPACTS

If the bushfire was caused by arson, the offender/offenders would face serious fines and jail time. Bushfires can also block or destroy natural resources such as trees  and power sources such as electrical substations and sewage plants, making life for people not directly affected by the bushfire tough also. Bushfires also affect crops and vegetation, making it hard for people in that area to get fresh food. People who lose their house from bushfires would be affected badly, especially if they aren’t insured and don’t have lots of money in their bank account as that would mean they would have lost everything.

There are many impacts to the community and to the wildlife from bushfires. The biggest impact that bushfires can bring is the path of destruction it can leave behind, destroying habitats and species, causing endangered animals to go extinct. Bushfires can also cause death to anyone travelling through the bush and also releases lots of smoke which can make it very hard for people to escape the bush or put out the fire. The smoke can also impact and dislocate aerial systems and also affect people’s breathing, especially asthma sufferers Homes and buildings can also be burned down, along with cars and roads, causing the government millions of dollars in repair costs.

During the Christmas Day Bushfires, Sheryl Smith saw that her house had fully burnt down and had to pay $200,000 in rebuilding and in repairs. Her neighbour had just spent $150,000 on a renovation and his house was also burnt down during the fire.
